unwinding new kite line

What is the proper way to unwind a line like the one shown in the picture?

Pull the line as you go from the center, holding the line holder stationary or rotate the line holder as you go, so it unspools from the side.

the only line that I know will give a problem if you unwind incorrectly is Power Q line,
never have any problems with standard lines, but it seems easier to unroll following the figure 8 pattern as you move backwards away from the start point holding the winder with one hand as you go and keeping the lines straight with a little tension to avoid tangles, even holding the winder between two fingers as the line quickly unwinds is a fast way to unwind

These lines arent wound in figure 8. just round the spool.

standard lines or power Q line?
power Q is stiff and feels hard, standard line is more floppy and softer.
I wind my power Q line like your picture shows.
its only power q line you need to be mega careful with.

Any which way, then anchor one end and walk the line with it pinched between your fingers a couple times to undo any twists.

What’s the caution with Q power lines?

I am not sure of the name they give Q line when you unwind them incorrectly, some guys say they have ruined them due to unwinding incorrectly :angryfire:
the jacket or hard covering goes sort of weird feeling and lumpy when you run your fingers down the line.
when you buy new Q line there are warnings on the spool about this :o

once it's installed on your bar then no worries really, but you have to remember not to try and pull out the tiny line loops you get when the line has been left unwound and loose on the sand, the loops need to be unwound and not pulled out straight like you do with normal line.

It doesn' matter much, but roll it out with the holder. If you hold the roller stationary you will add half a twist each round....once you walk the lines though most of that comes out...but it does make the lines more jumbled up.

It comes out once they unwind the lines again. I have never had any stay screwy forever.

Make sure Q-Line is rolled out right, loops need to be rolled out on the same axis, make sure it's not lumpy? :nono:

C'mon guys, get SK99, life's too short!
