Hi there,
Just got Soul 12 2019 and put North Trust bar 22 m lines as had one spare... Had to pull safety twice in first few sessions and was surprised at the behaviour of the kite. It didn't flag out but kept quite a lot of power and span and relaunched continuously. I couldnt find a way to flag it out. In the end got some help from a rescue boat and both times the driver had to pull on a back line to flag it out and got me out... WTF to do? Is North bar not compatible with Soul? Or is there a way to make it work? Any help much appreciated as really enjoy riding this beast of a kite and want to find a way to keep safe if the need be.
Many thanks
Dean

How far does the bar slide up the safety line?
Must be as far as the kite is long...

Good point, went and measured the lines and yes, safety line is about 1.3 m shorter then the kite itself so of course it can never flag out. And I can't extend the safety line so need a different bar.
So... What bar has an 8-8.5 m safety line? Are all Flysurfer bars compatible?
Any ideas welcome thanks.

1.3m less should not be a problem at all.
No bar is customized for a specific kite size release. For handling sure they are. If the kite is 18m, and lines are 17m or less, how long is the release?
Something else is the problem.

Yes it is. 1.3m is a problem and also explains why he has those issues. It means that your outward wingtip will still be kept into the wind when released which could - depending on wind strength - mean considerable amount of pull.

From FS, Infinity and Force Control works perfectly. Connect Control doesn't. You can however also use Bars from other brands like the Ozone Foil Contact Water.

Well, difficult to say, because the FLS doesn't attach at the very end of the tip. But 1.3 might indeed be too much.
If this is your first Soul: Souls are just incredible in relaunch and do that often without any input from the rider. Downside is that even if you release the safety it still wants to fly off, has more power than other released kites and continuously turns and twists. But this is normal.
Tell us if it gets better with less than 1.3m - thanks!

How do you deal with sticky situations then? When the wind is strong and kite needs deep water rescue packing?

When I found myself in the same WTF moment - same issue as described above, but with 10m Speed4 Standard I was advised to upgrade to 5th line and I wisely opted out for kites which don't stay powered when flagged out on a single front line - LEIs.
Practically I wear gloves when kiting to be able to pull on one line if I ever need to.
In the situation itself I ran forward to the kite and it gave me a "delayed relaunch" moment so I could tame it down completely. And then I figured that proper 4-line LEI will not do that. Safety matters.
In water - pulling one or both rear lines can kill the power too. Worst case - full release and return alive to shore to buy a LEI

Foil kites don't flag out properly on 4 lines. If you require safe qr and not have the kite spin around and tangle your lines have 2 use true 5th line. Deep water rescue on 4 lines in high wind is like swimming with a full bag of wet laundry and full plate of spaghetti. But I'll still run foils 4 line mode and only use my 5 line bars on my c kites.
