This is the issue I am dealing with using a Cabrinha Trimlite bar. After a quick foot switch I aggressivly down loop the kite dead overhead while I am working with the momentum of the foil. It is a magical feeling too hardly feel the kite. Unfortunately the steering line catches, then I am swimming. I have nothing bad to say about these bars for normal twin tip riding.
Thanks, that explains a lot - this picture is better than a 1000 words.
Is that the bar you are using, or is it an old one just to show the issue?
It looks EXTREMELY short, and indeed I can see why you need to fishpole now
I use 52 and 58 cm bars for all my kites, also the 3.5 and 5 m2, so that is one explanation why I never has this problem. I ditched the shorter ones, or used the lines to make new linesets on the "normal" longer bars.
Now I understand why it happens, a combination of how slack your lines get (partly experience, but can happen for all of us) and a super small/narrow bar where you need to fishpole
I you insist or prefer using such a short bar (small is nice in other ways), especially for kites bigger than 6 m2, yes I can see the the problem, and understand why you might have to get rid of the depower trim
But maybe it is just an old bar not used now, to show what happens?
