In case anyone cares besides me, the wave and foil characteristics for the 2020 evo are now the same as the 2019.

Looks as a very quick marketing response, only the real test are going to show now if the drift is still good.
Yes, it appears there was a mistake originally, At least now there is a reasonable expectation that drift is the same or be slightly better than my 2018 evos.

The 2020 is slightly lighter. Having some more precision in the turning from the direct bridle sounds good. This video is the first I have heard of a higher aspect ratio and faster flying. I’m not sure that was an area that needed changing.

I expect to find out very soon how the new evo performs.
The video of EVO 2020 induces the idea they made design changes and it will move the all around capability of the Evo towards a rebel style. I believe to market fit majority of the riders, that are indeed only “free riders”. “Sell more”.

That’s unfortunately, because they are killing again the one Kite quiver idea as they did to the bandit.

I will get my hands on the new EVO soon and post my review.

personally if i were king for a day,in would merge the juice with the evo and take a strut out of the mono. Call it the nono :D

foiling and surfboards have really pushed the lower wind boundaries and moved where an all around kite is flying in the wind Range Not to mention lighter riders.

I got my hands on a 2020 8m duotone evo to try.

I lad it on top of my 2018 8m. The aspect ratio is identical,

White on top of red, outline is identical and the white kite is really a gray canopy with struts and leading edge white.

Pumped up 7 psi.

Wait did I say 7 psi?

And the logos and colored trapezoid patches are not silk screened, they are a part of the canopy just a different color fabric.

Aren't patches kind of silly? All that extra stitching, more to go wrong. I don't care for excessive silk screening either but not sure a patch in this case is better.

I got the 8m evo out today from walk up the beach on my surfboard to really nicely powered. Even some foiling. Unfortunately no surf, nada.

Bottom line, I like it a lot.

I have a lot time on the 2018 evos with the 8m being my most used size but the 6m might have caught up this summer on a foil, and there was that trip to the Oregon coast.

Anyway, first impression was it felt a lot like an evo. Same bar pressure, flies in the same spot, you can get that sweet spot where you feather the bar and it pulls you up wind.

This might sound trite but the turning is more precise and quicker. I really liked how it downlooped as I could really feel where the kite was and control I it. Also on fast tight carving turns where I send the kite back quickly I felt like I had more control.

I was impressed with the foiling and I think it drifts better than the 2018. Seems to sit in a good spot and turn better when drifting.

I don’t think the 2020 depowers as completely, with the bar all the way out and the kite overhead it hung around for longer before it decided fsll than the 2018.

When I self landed I and walked up the lines I thought it had more power than the 2018.

I fell off my foil board and recall having more power than I expected. It might take a bit more bar throw relative to depower.

That might be what you give up without the pulleys on the front lines.

I’ll have to play around with that some more and see what’s going on,

Exactly! Core does the same and I wonder. Why they make an asymmetrical stretch pattern?? In concept it leads to unbalanced kite.
