Buying new twintip in US - from Spleene to Flysurfer?

Postby grigorib » Fri Oct 25, 2019 4:29 pm

I've been a happy 200+ lbs strictly-hooked rider of Spleene RIP 137x42 since I got it in 2013. I ride hard, boost high, I love how board bites into water, how light it is, how large spray I can squeeze and how high it sends me but board started giving up on me.

Switching from Spleene Door to Flydoor few years back was a very positive experience for me so I'm thinking of getting Flysurfer Radical6 138x42.5cm

Any thoughts and comments on the board?
Any other board you'd consider a better option and why?

Since you're located in the US, I'd look at brands and boards that are well distributed here and have a distributer and/or rep that knows what it takes to run an effective business. From demos, to parts, to warranty! As far as I'm concerned, Flysurfer is a joke here in the US.
So many better options! :thumb:

My US Flysurfer dealer is amazing and has fueled my addiction since my first year on water. Timely, precise, knowledgeable, reliable, not greedy, has parts and is true kite addict - exactly what I need from a dealer. The Flydoor has behaved super well and not being carbon is better than one (which he told me right away when I was buying Spleene door first but I was too focused on getting carbon)

My other option is Crazyfly Raptor LTD 136x41 - a tad lighter board but smaller than what I ride and a bit more pricey

I've heard dealers east of the Mississippi have had good experiences with Flysurfer. Flysurfer doesn't do a good job servicing west of the Mississippi from my experience. Regardless, I'm sure they're good boards.

Moving forward, they're a lot of good freeride boards on the market right now. If you like the asymmetrical shape concept of the Radical, you might want to check out the Naish Switch.

I got to demo some freeride boards at AWSI and the one's that stood out to me were Eleveight's Master (also available in a carbon version), Core's Fusion4, Duotone's Select (also available in carbon), and F-One's Trax HRD (also available in carbon).
These boards are available ranging from 137-139cm.
I hope that helps a bit if you want some other brands/models to consider. Crazyfly makes some great boards too, so I can't knock them. Also Litewave's Kick-S 139 might be worth checking out. Good luck! :thumb:
