That’s shocking news...so sorry to hear.

Condolences to family and friends.

Wondering how strong the wind was?

Really sad to hear. I'm guessing it was getting towards 7m weather. There is rock groins to prevent beach erosion. But it is a beginner spot due to its flat water. Sadly this could be kitings youngest fatality.

Accident happened ~5:30pm - it was gusty with wind ranging between ~27 and ~35 knots.

Everyone is still in shock, especially with the rider being so young

RIP...so sad and scary to hear.............I am teaching my 17 year old and it scares me a little that he could get hurt. But you can get hurt doing most action sports, skiing , motocross, mountain biking and many more. I have put a huge focus on safety with him, and will not take him out if its blowing more than 20mph......

That's Not good ! Kids at that age ; they don't usually have very
good decision making skills , till they get a bit older. Depending
on his weight ; he probably shouldn't have bin out in peak winds, of
over 20-kt's ?

I am so sorry for the loss of this young kiter who has likely been riding for a while. My sincere regrets to his mother, the rest of his family, friends and to the entire kiting community. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/articl ... ydney.html

I would ask that folks show particular restraint and respect at this tragic time.
