How about leaving 1cm tail with heat shrink cap?
It’s so incredibly easy to splice 5 mm amsteel. Why risk having a knot pull through?

I have had a bowline pull out with slippery high tech single braids. I have taken to putting an overhand knot in the bitter end.
Well exactly. If you want a "bar buffer" just do a Brummel splice then do a fig 8 near the loop. :thumb:

In real world applications the knot will exceed needed strength several times over.

^^If you want to go minimal you could use this. I have used it for several years to attach my harness runner to pinned shackles on my dynabar without any stopper knot in the tail. The metal work goes through the lower hole. I call it the splice hitch no idea if it has a proper originators name!

Peter,

This is what I use. The depower in the Ozone CL is tied off with a Fig 8 knot. In the Duotone CL the depower is Brummell spliced around the swivel. Both depowers use 3mm line. In the Ozone the line is just passed up through itself.

Hope that this helps.
