5 days and the Gong/AKA CL-QR was here.

When the line is doubled it is easy, and just space for a safety line in the center too.

But using a single depower line and any kind of knot in the rotor I could think of, there is not room for a safety line :-?

Doesn't matter for hydrofoiling, but needed for other boards.

Will take some pictures to show how and why.

You are correct, the push away elastic is nicely really tight.

Extremely short loop and combo, only 15 cm from hook to bar.
Even my older ones were around 20 cm.

Looking forward to see if the loop works.

Keep the ideas coming, we are many who use these light and easy to change/renew setups :thumb:

Yeah, I wasn't sure about the single line with knot option. I'm curious for the pictures.

It's one of the shortest releases on the market, especially with the small chicken loop option (I use that one for my wavekites)

Peter

Do you have any opinion regarding the ozone push away qr that I outlined on page 1 of this post? I may have found some stock for around £50 which includes pu covered center line. Looks good for single center line!

Hi Peter, I'm using the "older" Ozone Megatron (like the one in this video and it does it all for me on my customized bars.
Single depower line, easy to change. Easy to untwist.
I hope Ozone will keep some spare parts for years!

Sorry Herman, no idea, the video shows nothing about how you can tie a single line into it...

Ozone and Cabrinha are maybe the smallest brands of all around here, opposed to other countries where they are really big or the biggest, so have no friends using these either...
Doesnt matter though, if anyone got a system you can buy that works, and short too, I dont care what brand, nor price really, as relatively low cost compared to everything else right?

bragnouff, how long is it from inside of depower loop when stretched out, to the end (where bar rests) on your CL/QL in the video?

I've measured it at 21cm.
That's the standard loop. I know there are longer loops available for the avid freestylers, but I'm not sure if there are shorter ones for midgets.
I have 4 of those CL, and stoked with them. There had been one bad batch, where a locking part was showing signs of rust, but Ozone sent replacements for free.

Peter

The above video is not the video I referred to but it is the relevent qr. Even's post confirmed what I had observed from the Catalyst review video, that is, the design is different and looks much more suitable for a single line use than the common rotor head design. It seemed to me to be what you are looking for and I was just checking that you did not have any reservations that I had not anticipated and so thanks for the response. Sorry for the red herring if they are not available in your area!

I had heard something negative but that is probably explained by braganouff's post, thanks for that. I have a quantity of 5mm dyneema that I want to use up as single center line and this looks the best candidate for me.

QRs with one depower line only seem to exist when PU tubing is used to house both the one skinny depower line and the safety line. The closest to one line and no PU is the new Eleveight v2.5 bar. Two lines exit the rotor head and the join together, in a splice I presume, a few cm above. It seems that if the safety line runs through the center of the QR, options are more limited and no space for a heavier 5mm line and stopper knot unless the safety line runs along the outside of the CL and QR.

Not at all for that Ozone CL. You can have probably up to 6 or 8 mm depower line, pu coated or not, and a standard 4mm flag line alongside it, in its own separate hole. Plenty of room in there, which makes this so easy to maintain.

+1 for Bragnouff. That was my main point but I was reluctant to simply state it because I have not had hands on experience with this qr.

I will try and improve my communication skills!

I also suspect it would be easy enough to fit your own customised loop!
