I've ordered one GONG now, to see if it works - looks like it could be spot on.

Other brands with details, and "short"?

Faxie, they say to replace the chicken loop very year on the Gong/Kite Attitude QR. Do you find this to be true, does it wear quickly because there's room for sand to get in the CL tube and abrade the rope?

Apparently, it's required with the Afnor standard and that's why they mention it. I did have a CL tube damaged due to my harness hook, but that was only on the outside plus it was a freestyle (long) loop. Got a shorter one now, and no problems yet.

Afford.

You are correct that you can use the original keeper for 3mm of reasonably tight weave in the relevent cab rotor head. The reason I drilled was because I wanted to use 4 or 5mm and, furthermore, one of the set screws had been rounded out and could not be easily removed. (Drilled holes are 6mm.)

I would not feel comfortable on 3mm line without a pu tube and I don't like centre line covers. The line will be easy to replace with this battle damage repair, just needs long nose pliers or tweezers down the top hole etc....

This was a salvage project; and obviously it would not be sensible to buy a new chicken loop and do this.

Regards Herman

The AKA QR can also be rigged with a PU cover depower line. SK Shapes has both items listed. https://www.skshapes.com/shop/spare-parts/

Some very high prices for very ordinary items, such as a 21.5 x 5mm stainless steel 'O' ring for €7

Good grief!

C'mon, it doesnt matter, still amost for free :D

The thing is, you CAN get exactly what you need, quite low cost compared to all other kite parts at least :naughty:

And if a cheapskate, you can probably get the thing you need at the local hardware store, if an O ring

"Cheapskate" my arse. Buy your stuff direct from the manufacturers such as Wichard and Clamcleat. Or from the likes of Proboat and GS products. YKIMS
