Is this a complaint about the lack of hype?? Personally I'm happy were not being inundated. If its good, it will sell itself.

If you don’t want to spend big bucks on kites, don’t. There will be inexpensive, direct to consumer kites. It is not like an expensive kite increases the prices of all other kites. I just don’t follow your logic

kiteboarding has become like windsurfing did in the 90s - overcomplex - overpriced - over engineered - marketed in the wrong way - to the wrong people, this will be the nail in the coffin.
Used to be that people discussed actual kiteboarding - actually doing it, today the obsession with expensive equipment is a reflection on the people doing it these days.

Yes, there will be. And than you pay $200 for shipping, plus customs, plus VAT.
Where is the logic in that?

Aluula kites are fantastic had a chance to demo them this summer, and I love the way they feel in the air. It's been a fantastic year for kite developments. Expensive sure but the speed a larger Aluula kite loops is unreal because of how light they are. I hope they sell well enough that Ocean Rodeo can continue this experiment.

Its always wise to wait some years. Until the new (and then used) stuff gets cheap...
Who can be so stupid to buy anything new? I´ll never understand this.
With the Aluula it will be even better to buy 2nd hand as this material will hardly deteriorate. As they claim. So an old used kite will be like new
And once every brand will use it, prices will level again. Let´s wait and see and save!

New Kite are flying much better when the spi is new, leading-edge dacron still rigid, etc... You can check online, there couple interviews of kite designers explaining how rigidity is important in the flying characteristics and how sun/aging affects the flying performance.
I always get a new quiver every year, you lose way less money doing this. You can resell as the end of the season with just a small loss...
Currently running 8/9/10/12 pivot 2019 they are great, with the new Quadex might be able to push them a little bit more, let's see.
