Interesting split in this thread about loss of stoke ... that's not what Plummet said. I read it as loss of obsessiveness, where FOMO is pure torture and leads to all the negatives that come with addiction to pretty much anything, making bad decisions that negatively impact your life and your family. Better to have a balanced life, where the fun of kiting is measured against all the other fun and awesome things to do. When it's 25kts and the waves are head high, there is rabid stoke. But when it's 10-12kts, the waves are tiny, you will likely be swimming as much as kiting ... it's nice to be able to launch your rabid bro and not feel like you're missing out -- you can then also help him/her untangle the lines and carry in the gear. I remember frothing out to long term kiter buddies who got me into this "why aren't you rigging, are you crazy!?!" and they'd just smile and laugh, been there done that and made the video to boot.

39.. only 39...?
I've managed 16 times since July and half of those were pretty average sessions.

It's getting quite ridiculous now. With kite (TT, SB, Foil), prone and sup foiling and all this behind a boat (so add in wake boarding and scurfing) if no wind (oh plus normal surfing), plus mountain biking and diving for seafood, there doesn't go many days of the year without something to do in the water. We go through wetsuites like nothing else. Look forward to a day with nothing to do. Definitely like my kiwi brother, pick and choose our kiting days nowadays. Quality versus quantity. Add a wind wang to that lot one day and it will go from ridiculous, to the absurd.
That being said kiting is the number one passion still. Then again can't beat a windless day with pumping surf...!!!!!

I’m the same, been kiting since ‘99. My spot is a good hours drive away.
Always used to get FOMO, used to drive down at any hint of wind and got disappointed many times.
Reduced my kites down to 8 and 6m in my surfboard. Only go when it’s definitely 20plus, best direction and guaranteed waves, if not don’t bother.
Kiting less, but enjoying it more with less stress.
Mike

People really into something, in a big way, I rate that. Ocd, fomo etc... It's a positive thing to me. Shows passion and drive.
