Newbie here, trying to piece together some gear.

Bought this control bar on eBay and it just arrived.

I know the brand is Slingshot, but aside from that there was no description.

What kind of control bar is this? Is it usable?

Don't try to rebuild the bar yourself as a beginner, use your brain. Are people seriously recommending a beginner rebuild an antiquated bar with aftermarket parts?
Do yourself and everyone else a favor, buy one of the bars below.

Then don't use it... - until you go to school with professional lessons. Use the school's gear so you don't break your new (to you) equipment.

2016 Cab bard are under safety recall (Google it). Make sure you get the correct replacement part from the seller and you should be OK! As I recall one front line was cut by the stopper after 2-3 sessions, resulting in deathloop.

Happened to me while waiting for the part. Broke my board too, all for a 15c piece :angryfire:

Could convert that to fixed line, no depower, awesome if you downwind somewhere with reasonably steady wind and are a very experienced kiter. Easy unhooked freedom.

I made those conversion responses. Wasn't sure he was a beginner or what level he was. Also if a year from now some expert reads this thread and finds a 2:1 bar, I'll have the instructions ready there for him to fix it up. I try not to make assumptions about what level someone is when they make a post, but agree if you are a beginner you don't want to fabricate a new control bar, just buy one that works.

Any one of these current used bars from a big shop who won't dick around selling dodgy stuff is a way cheaper and safer option that trying to learn how to build a bar while just getting into the sport. I highly recommend you do get into the maintaining/building bars, but not concurrently with the initial stages of learning.

That bar is ancient. I would end up keeping the bar itself and the lines and pig tails. Thats likely it.

I wouldn't buy those used control bars you have to buy a new set of lines that's from $100 to $200 depending on what set of lines you buy, and the bars are between $150 and $250 so total price will be more than new old stock for $250

I usually buy new old stock Naish control bars but don't see them around this year.

The guy is not at the level of building his own bar, he shouldn’t do it - the comments are only about what is that bar good for.

There are $250 brand new bars out there - Real has LF Mossion v2 for $250 and there are plenty of good functional bars for $150-$200 used, from fellow riders
