Moaning about price and thinking one of the top riders and kite designers were going to launch Switch 2.0? Just make the blanket statement that ALL kite gear is too expensive 100 more times because I assure you these companies don't care. It's been drubbed to death on forums since this sport came out.
"THIS STUFF IS TOO DAMNED EXPENSIVE
Simply more and more people buying Gong, Swith, Gin kites because they fly exatcly the same but price is twice less.
Where is point to buy kite for 1600? Its as three personal computers, as two premium class mobile phones, as three 4k tv- its Highest technology supercomplex pieces. The kite is just kite nothing else (even just part if riding possibility, even without or not enough wind its nothing), except if you are pro than you can make money with it.
I didnt know about gong. I like what they do, seems pretty cool.
Kiting needs some different kinds of brands, some of the well known ones don't seem to have the freshness\ motivation they once had. Also the ability to motivate riders.
Respect to gongs videos, quality!

Gong make a great strutless kite for lightwind foiling, it will stay in the air in next to nothing, produces great pull to get you up on the foil, drifts very well and is extremely price competitive. If anyone is looking for a great lightwind foiling kite I would recommend it. It is an example of a small brand going for a niche market that bigger brands would probably not want to go into.

I agree it's too expensive for what it tangibly is. It's dacron, Latex some valves and a few meters of spectra. My point is there's no sense complaining about it, at the very least until we've tried it. It's priced accordingly with everything else really. Is it a gamble for someone to buy from a startup company? Heck yes. Buyer beware.
If it flies like a 2006 kite - I'll be along side ya saying it's a rip off. If it sends like a Pivot, hang times like a Rebel and is built like a tank.... Well I have an extra kidney that isn't doing much for me at present. I'll dig deep and get one.
As I've said in the past, I'm not a Kevin fan boy*, I'm more an admirer of Damiens designs. Having Langeree as his test pilot is just an added bonus. I'd be legitimately tempted to give them a try if my Pivots weren't still in perfect working order. But maybe in the very near future for sure. I think these two guys will come out with some innovative gear. You can't dismiss what both have done and established for themselves. Knowing how difficult it is to start a new business, with young families in an ever changing economic climate, I am pulling for them personally. It's going to be an up hill (wind?) battle. In the meantime I'll hold off on the negativity and let them prove what their contribution to this sport is.
For price and build quality you can't go past Ventum kiteboarding.
Also the new kite from On kiteboarding looks sweet have a good designer behind it as well as test rider.
So there is another 2 options on a big list of market players.
Switch are just Ikon kites. But cheaper.
New Reedin kite is what 2021 pivot would of been without a doubt.
If Damian didn't leave Naish as he has been designing kites for Kevin for 15yrs so it's a pivot with a new name.
Be interesting to see what 2021 Naish line up looks like.
But Reedin has priced itself out of market direct to near full shop brand rrp.
Can't see the justification as they haven't got middle men getting there slice of the pie.
And big competition in market direct kites atm.
Hard to reduce prices than slowly increase them don't think reedin thought about that.

OnKiteboarding seems to have a similar pricing policy, 1500$ for a 12m kite...
Wondering what makes them come up with these numbers... Apparently, there are people buying it.

It will be interesting to see which new brand is more successful. On Kiteboarding or Reedin. I would say there is a risk with Reedin that Kevin will take a sponsorship deal if the brand doesnt take off in a year or so.
