Just curious if people get stuff stolen at their local launches or when travelling to spots. Would be interested which launches have the most things disappear. Personally, Ive never had anything stolen but really curious if I should really ever worry about my extra kites and boards chilling on the beach while im on the water.
Tell your story if you had stuff stolen and the specific launch it was at.

My local spot is very safe. I once left a surfboard on the beach to go back the next day and find it nicely placed above the high tide line. A guy left his car keys in the door of his truck today and went kiting only to realise when he went to open his door.
However, that safeness didn't stop my mutant board from getting stolen while I changed kites. I left it on the beach for 5mins while I changed kites over. When I came back the board was gone........... Bastards.

In all my many many years (3) of kiteboarding nothing at all.
Hear nothing in the Netherlands except forgotten things

Had a ss eye hook to screwed into the side of boardwalk disappear . Used it to hook up self launch rope, not sure why anyone would want it. Same with full rope with a carabiner attached . Nothing to really complain about in my area.

One of my best kite mates had his kite bag, phone and car stolen while we were out riding on our local beach (Jacksonville Beach FL). The perpetrator stole his kite bag, which had his keys in it, his cell phone was in his car (a newer-VW station wagon). We came in from kiting, landed, cracked open some cold beers, when he noticed his bag was missing. We walked out to the parking lot, his car was gone.
30 days later his insurance cut him a check for $15k, car and phone (and bag) were never found
Jacksonville Beach has a lot of crime - Google it. Rapes, armed burglary, shooting murders...having lived here for 8 years, it doesn't surprise me that my friend had his stuff stolen

Just my nasty old flip-flops. Hope the thief got my foot/toe fungal infection...
Also, one of the windsurfers got his wallet stolen out of the console in his vehicle (he inadvertently left it unlocked). That was about 5 years ago.
Nothing since. My local spot is pretty safe, except for the men in grey suits.

Placed a new surfboard and tt on a line and anchor in chest deep water at a crowded beach. Though being that it is difficult to come into land amongst a lot of swimmers to change boards. While kiting 500-1000ft upwind with my wife someone stole both boards off the anchor. None of the beach goers/non kiters saw anything Fackers! Boards were never seen again. It’s sobering to think that someone watched us and had the balls to walk away with our stuff on a crowded beach.

i saw a beautful(and expensive) carbon Imperator board left(lost?) at wildcat in corpus...
it was sitting in the grass when i left.. and was still sitting ther the next day when i returned (i was amazed...in cabarete that board would have deveoped legs immediately)
i tend to be orderly..and i practically never lose things anywhere else..
but i've had a helmet..kite leashes...even a pair of slippas disappear off the beach in cabarete. 100% my fault of leaving things there.
apparently someone tried to walk off with a twintip years ago there... but a local beach boys "recovered" it (or so he told me)
i dont really like/need help launching or landing.. but i've always given propina to the local kids for their "help"... primarily bc they do watch your crap (and keep their friends from walking away with it)
