El Cuyo Mexico, is like Cabarete use to be (Cheap), Locals actually promote kiteboarding, not like Holbox, Short Drive from Cancun, Cenotes and ruins to hit on the way there, plus consistent Thermals.

I'd sure love to read a comparison of El Cuyo and Holbox. Everything from accommodations to restaurants, groceries, kiting restrictions and more. I loved Holbox, but not the need to take an organized boat ride to the kiting location because of the no kiting rule in front of the town. I'm interested in giving El Cuyo a try.

Cabarete more wind than Cayo Guillermo but also more likely to rain as wind typically goes over Cabarete first?

I live in Barbados since 1996. Kitesurfing in February is amazing. Swells are usually quite high this time around. 8 to 12' on some days with winds around 20 to 25kts and some days up to 30kts.
There are about 70% of kiters on Surfboards and 30% on TT. On the inside there are some nice kickers for TT and the reef can be super nice for boosting too. Once you go a bit upwind of the guys with directionals you won't interfere with waveriding.
We are hydrofoiling as well quite a bit even in the swells. A little downwind of Silver Rock there are nice rolling swells which are amazing to surf with the hydrofoil.
Great spot, sure you will love it
Super friendly and welcoming locals with one exception...Action :thumb: :jump:

thanks for info.
so is silver rock the most popular beach?

and foul bay there looks (at least on windy) to have consistent swell.. is that doable on a foil?

Silver Rock is the most popular beach followed by Long Beach which is also great for TT. I don't recommend Foul Bay as there are not many beaches downwind in case shit happens...once the wind turns SE we foil often at Sandals Beach which is super nice as well. Can be quite gusty this time of the year, though...

Silver Rock beach can get pretty crowded so I prefer Long Beach. Although the waves aren't as nice there is plenty of space to enjoy the beautiful sea on a TT without having to try to avoid the fashionistas and De Action ;). Will be staying on Sandals Beach (Bougainvillea) beginning of Feb.

Barbados in February is on my list for next year for my 40th, I've been all over the Caribbean but never to Barbados. Swell and wind sound perfect, and it's on my goofy footed side. Any suggestions on where to stay with a non-kiting/surfing wife?

I am also looking for a Caribbean spot with 20-25 knots, flat water and nightlife.

Anytime between December and July.

Anything besides Cabarets ?

Barbados too wavy.
