Politics.
But come on, give her credit.
I think we all want to see her ripping.
Another guy would be just that...another guy.

http://kitesurf365.com/sergio-cantagalli-episode-123

In this episode, Segio Cantagalli explained they (KOTA) received 64 videos for KOTA entry. Among them, they selected 12 purely based on rider skills. He explained that Angely was submitted to the same rules. But he also said that having a woman this year competing in the event is a good thing for "the show".
The only wildcard was for Airton Cozzolino.

In my opinion, she is able to do all the "basic" tricks needed for competing in the KOTA (kiteloop with / Backroll / boogie loop / board off). But she is sending and landing those tricks high and in hard conditions : strong wind, big waves (which is not the case for some men selected). Of course, Kevin, Liam, Jesse, Marc.... can do much more, but she is not that far away.

I think it's a good sign for the sport to include women in this competition.

Whether you agree with or not, her inclusion undermines the competition if it is based upon anything other than merit. It is what it is... the guy himself even called it a 'show'.

You want to see how big the jumps really are? Go to the beach and watch.
i (and quite all) want to see physical proof but not subjective opinion view
Me too...but if u can find a real way to check height than u Will destroy woo business .. Hope in the future they Will find a way ..
Please stop wining guys...especially a99 this guy is only crying his eyes out due to missing "real" jump data! My suggestion create something or stop complaining! WOO is atm the best option available (accurate or not), next best thing is indeed eyesight as the other guys suggest

Is it not possible to properly survey a few dedicated camera perches to be used consistently year after year? With the proper software, inclinometers on the cameras, it should be easy enough to generate height data for any jump that is caught on more than one camera. Set up say 4 and you have a pretty good chance of catching most of the important jumps on at least two. Could be done without the use of laser distance measurement if the camera angles are distinct enough.

This would take some work to set up, but with a consistent venue like they have been using, it would keep relatively decent accuracy for year to year comparison. If not totally outright accurate, it would at least be an objective measure with which to compare jumps within the comp to better determine the bulk of the scoring criteria.

I mean, in reality, this venue has table mountain and lions head in the background! Some simple surveying using those stationary features for reference and we should be able to get semi accurate data from even just a couple camera angles. There are GPS systems that are accurate enough these days to pinpoint the rider position in the bay to within a meter or so (distance component) that just has to be correlated to the angle measured from well surveyed camera positions.

My idea is much simple: As in the heats competing 4 riders, take just 4 woo or piq with additional wifi-4G- gprs data transmiters to beach receivers camp. Mounth them on riders boards during heat and dismount after. Its so simple.

i don't see any exciting changes - 12 the same names for 5 years. Exciting change can be only one - REAL JUMP DATA STREAM !!!!!!

Winguru shows no any wind 14+ knots for Feburary 1-6 days. Definitely KOTA missed this January middle strongest winds of 40-50 knots.
Didn't they do live jumps in 2014 with the xenser? I seem to recall a jump leaderboard on the stream that year.
this is all I could find about it. Mentions life jump data. Lets all jump in the time machine Marty and get back
to 2014! :thumb:
