TIP: ... hockey stick cloth tape ( duct tape, sail tape, any fairly thick and sticky tape will do the job ) and run it around the six inches of each end of the hose.
The tape wrap strain relieves the sudden transition from flexible hose to the very stiff end of the hose that has the end adapter fitting inserted inside it.

- the diameter of bayonet nozzles is non-standard ...
As I understand it, the diameter of the kite-end adapters was tweaked ( adapters made slightly larger in outer diameter ) to keep the hose connection from coming off and ensure the hose-adapter connection doesn't leak.

All of the hose adapters on new improved-design pumps from kite manufacturers are the same, as far as I know ( have not seen or used all of them, so just speculating ).

You know that WMFG don't actually make pumps. They buy them from the same factory that every other pump comes out of. The only thing different is the collection of fittings and the colour.

So, yes buy a WMFG pump if you want the nice piece of hose and all the little connectors. Don't buy WMFG pump if you think you're going to get a better pump.

PS I always disconnect the hose and tie it to a loop before throwing into the back of the car. I have never had a hose fail. I have had the silicone seals fail. It's easy to get access to replace the seals. The pump comes apart quite nicely. Unfortunately I could not find anywhere to buy replacement silicone seals.

@ OzBungy there are several brands buying pumps from one manufacturer. Each brand can choose the configuration of their pump (hose, nozzles, etc) so there are some differences brand to brand.

Pump nozzles are like phone power adaptors these days.. I borrowed a pump with 6 adaptors hanging off it! And not non kiting ones..

Well, WMFG nozzles are like “USB which doesn’t fit by a millimeter”. So when you have their hose connected to bayonets Boston valve is leaks air left and right.
I can imagine how an engineer was “guys that’s not right, we shouldn’t do it” and management was “you don’t understand market and marketing. Do it as we say”

I took the pump from my old regular two action, cut it off the old pump and zip tied this regular hose to the screw on wmfg section. Those hoses are garbage. Everything else about the pump is great. Making the section near the pump stiffer helps nothing it just changes where it breaks. They need to just go with a thinner and more flexible tube. The one they have now is overbuilt in a way that makes it break

Are we sure WMFG didn't license their pumps to the other brands?? I thought all pumps were garbage before they cam along.. it could be coincidence though

TIP: When I bought my WMFG pump, I got a very good piece of advice from the widely respected local "Murph". He told me to go buy some hockey stick cloth tape and run it around the six inches of each end of the hose. I did and it has served me well so far. Thought I would pass on this wise wisdom.
Cheers!
Its a pretty long hose. It normally seems to break 2-3 inches from the end. Each time it does I cut off the broken bit and refit it back onto the screw connector. I figure I can repair it maybe 5-6 times before it becomes too short which should be a reasonable lifetime.

Its kind of my own fault for being lazy anyway. If I removed it after use I doubt it would ever split but I tend to leave it attached in my kite bag each time I finish. I had the same problem with my mystic style pump with the hard plastic hose. At least the WMFG hose isn't glued onto the connector like the hard hoses are

Core were the first to release the new style pump, but in regular size. WMFG brought out the XL size. I would think a third party owns the patent otherwise I doubt WMFG would have to find new owners.

Good luck to the new crew, those corduroy deck pads need to come to the EU market soon, hint :naughty: .

Hey Everyone. My Name Is Kevin Wade. I am the Owner of Action Sports Logistics. We distribute Eleveight Kites and Brunotti Accessories in north America. I, along with a couple of partners, recently purchased WMFG. Looking forward to continued success with the brand!
Kevin, you guys bought a nice brand name. Lot of salt on hoses of those pumps but everyone likes the pump style.

Imagine making and releasing a proper foiling bar - climbing grade simple chickenloop and depower. And make a limited carbon version of it.

There’s shortage of pocket foilboards too and they’re overpriced for simplicity of them.

Good luck with the brand! Keep customers excited!
