Back injury

Postby gravitate » Mon Feb 10, 2020 12:07 pm

Alright everyone so basically I had to have some intervention in the middle of my back like opposite my belly and a few vertebrae up. I jumped down from a window ledge messing about when I was drunk and broke my foot and hurt my back. They had to drill in to vertebrae in my back and add some resin or something. Anyway I am totally fine now.

I bought my 10 year old son a 1.5m kite and want to get him into kitesurfing. What I am worried about is if I should do it again. Is this really tough on your vertebrae? I dont want to paralysed myself if I catch a gust you see. I'm in south france and the doctors are a bit hard to commu locate with because of my terrible french.

Any advice would be awesome. I can always stick to kiteboarding with a 4m or something that doesnt require a harness and do some sup while I teach him. Cheers :)

I cannot answer the medical part, but if you find a doctor you could also ask if a seat harness wont be safer rather than a waist one.

Have a look at a wing, instead of a kite?

From what I can make out 2 like thin sections were fractured so they drilled in both and injected resin. It was a 30 minute procedure.

What is a wing mate? Like a para glider?

Not quite like paragliding
Compared to hooking up in a strong thermal, with a Paraglider ; that
wing'ie-thing'ie, wouldn't be near as fun.

About your back ; give it a year or two, to get all the muscles , strong again;
gonna take a bunch of exercise, (but you can do it) if your passion is still
there ? Jumping is gonna be OUT, for a while ; you need to get strong again
First.
I hurt my back, in the mid 80's , (a 450' fall into a cliff , with a hang glider did that)
and it took a Long time , to get back my Back !!
