Question for xr5-6 users. I’m going to buy a 12m for tt riding but was curious how it does on the foil? How light of wind have you been able to foil on the 12m xr5-6? I’m 215lbs. Thanks

Its bad for foiling because 5 ribs dont hold well in lulls and drift is bad on it. In 5m/s its not very responsive and may fall. Look for something with 3 or less struts.

I just got off of the XR's for the new North Reach. XR's set to far forward so they don't drift and that makes it harder to go down wind. They are heavy and do like to fall out of the sky in the lightest of winds. Can you foil with them yes is it the most ideal kite to use no.

Pulled the trigger in an xr6 in the end. What setting in the cit bridle in the kite and wing tips is best for old school tricks and long slide tricks?
Recently purchased XRs 9 & 12m with Sensor 2S pro bar for TT kiting only. Had 4 sessions on the 9m changed the factory freeride settings to wave (closer to ctr of kite) & to Super easy (fastest turning speed) closer to tip for steering lines. Tried it on 22m but preferred 24m more recovery time in transitions. Overall the kite felt smoother less grunty. Very impressed with the stability of the kite through gusts, great top end, jumping & hang time. Although the kite does not drift as well as a wave kite however due to the large depower range it's okay to wave ride on our choppy waves.

Any tried the freestyle mode on the cit. is it better for jumping and advantages? More speed or more verticle jumps or anything?

I tried the freestyle setting on the XR6 12m. I cound't feel any improvement vs freeride one. The only thing I apreciated is that it seem that the kite was more easly "choked" ( it was on the low wind range)

Hi all! I wanted to ask how big (12m) xr5/xr6 feels like.
I have 7m xr5 and love it. I am thinking to gry Niger duże to kite in a bit lower winds (I am approx 55kg). Since I mostly kite on 7m, i am afraid 12 xr will be super slow and in general not fun to ride. I kited once on 12m switchblade and did t like it too much, too slow and heavy. Any opinions and recommendations??
Many thanks!!

Based on your weight I don't think a heavy large 5 strut kite for the low end makes a lot of sense.
By the time you go out on a 12m the wind speed will be low enough that the weight really starts to become an issue.
Not sure what wind speeds you want to go out on but a lighter build kite would make more sense to me.
Hell,at 55KG I guess even a one strut probably works pretty good on a twintip. (which I really wouldn't recommend to any heavier rider on a twintip)

And yes the 12M is slow, especially if you are used to smaller kites. Sometimes thats great for things like dark slides but I personally find it hard to live with after being mostly on small kites while foiling.

Im 215lbs riding a quiver of XR5s and 4s and spending more time foiling recently on a slingshot infinity 76 wing. It’s doable on XRs though it’s more fun on smaller kites.

The XRs generate more pull as they turn or down loop which destabilizes you or pulls you off your foil. They also don’t turn as fast and don’t drift as well. Ultimately I just bought a 9m Nexus 2 and am about to get a 12m and potentially an Xlite.

As for light wind on a 12m, I can ride when it starts to hit 11 to 12mph. It’s touchy and I’ve had the kite fall out of the sky on lulls which resulted in some long swims. It’s also hard to relaunch in those winds unless you get lucky and get a gust. I’ve foiled on my 15m XR in those lighter winds to get through lulls too. I can’t speak to whether the nexus does better in the light conditions because I only have the 9m at the moment and have only ridden it a bit powered.

12 is slow yes, but at 55kg I don't think you would need anything larger than a 10m
