Did Neil Pryde give up on their dream to monopolize kiteboarding in Olympics?

Guess it was a partnership between Neil Pryde and Cabrinha.
Not sure how actually the ownership was...anyone?
Pete owned the name, NP owned the factories that made the gear. That's as much as I can remember from the convoluted story I was told...

Now here's hoping they can lose the Chinese distribution problems too.

Be interesting if NP will start up a pure kite brand as well.
They have everything in place to roll straight away.
Plus probably a few distributors in contact already.

if JP Windsurfing and Cabrinha has been sold, I rather assume some financial problems...and because of this pretty sure they won't start a new one.

But, who knows??

Neil Pryde Group might simply want to concentrate on wind-surfing and sailing. Neil Pryde, whom I am distantly related to, retired from the business some years ago.
Probably a good thing, it can be pretty frustrating running a kite-boarding company out of Hong Kong as it is a very unwindy place.
A lot of the expertise that used to run NP is now at (true) North.

I have wondered if Shiriro Group had made the move to pickup the North Brand. The Cabrinha brand is quite old and stale. So many other brands are offering better ideas and more affordable gear. Look at the fireball...that has to be one of the most stupid ideas in kiting yet. Lets rethink a connection system but basically keep the hook..... :o

I am amazed we haven't seen consolidation of brands in the industry. It seems the obvious strategy to handle the lack of money.

So JP Australia was Hong Kong owned, then Chinese, now German.?

In other news Billabong Australia is now an American company(Boardriders) that own quiksilver, that used to be partly Australian! :-0 lol!!!

Big brands these days are a big joke, and the joke is on us because they barely have any grassroots left at all.

Hurley just got sold.. first thing they did is dropped nearly all their team riders.. look forward to your Hurley branded kitchen knives...

Van's is now simply owned by a mega clothing brand owning corporate.

They are all the masters of marketing no doubt keeping the dream alive in our minds as we align to these brands that really have very little substance left ( Van's does still run events to their credit)

Cab brand is back with Pete.

Hmm yes NP kites... ?!

Risky times to be in the kite biz I reckon, not many businesses where stock you buy can be worth less than you bought if for .. getting worse exponentially...

zero chance for pryde to enter the kite industry, they just trying to survive and focus in windsurfing market, good news for cabrinha, looks like a win win situation for both, but time will tell...
