Duotone lines still poor quality?

Postby Guttorm » Fri Feb 21, 2020 9:32 am

Almost all of the Duotone gear looks and feels great, but why then do they still sell their expensive gear with low quality lines???

I would love to buy a Click bar if Duotone upgrade their line quality.

I think it's because most boards and more customers change their bar regularly, more cost effective to get a trust bar on sale than buy their lines. I think I read they change their line spec roughly every 5 years.

The use of SK99 in the last 3 years has raised customer expectation, and most brands that use SK99 cost half as much to replace than the click bar line set. Steer clear till they do.

Feel the same...bar is expensive enough but with these lines not going to buy it with the idea I will have to replace it soon with better lines!
Is there not option to buy the bar without lines?

I think your over estimating every 5 years, I would guess it’s a season or two

My lines only lasted 11 months with a lot of use

Slingshot lines for life...

On another note, buy any bar , buy a duo tone front line distributor and make your own duo tone bar

You could buy all the parts separately in the spare parts shop... will be probably more expensive though overall.

It appears from reading Ralf Groesel’s Instagram that duotone has been testing different line sets and that some day they will change.

But for 2020 the lines are the same.

Rumor is that improved lines will be available from next release (2021 line) for add costs :angryfire: feel like they want to charge extra for something that should be the standard

Why would you "test" different line sets??? Every thing available, down to Jerry Brown fishing line is ten times better than old North/duotone lines.

Could Doutone still be hanging onto that junk line for another year as some business strategy to NOT sell bars because the profit margin is not as good as on kites?

Gotta insert the new stuff slowly over time so there is something ‘new & better’ for next year. You can only do so many color changes, after all.
