Simple explanation is that they bought 500.000 kilometers of this cheap line in one go 12 years ago..
Currently they have so far used 450.000 km still 50.000 kilometers of painfully bad lines to go before they can switch...

I think its thrue, but maybe they bought under the contract with each year receiving additional part on contract sign date agreed fixed 12 year ago price. Its cannot be thrue that they using 12 year ago bought lines, this is simply not safe in general.
Probanly this year they bought new lines for 2021 bars as they announced that from 2021 will be new brand lines. Hope will not be the same story with 500k lines for next decade :)

If you have ever produced anything of moderate complexity you would know that contracting and managing your supply chain is no joke.

I hear North has good lines now. Must be new management.

Sure North has other lines because North has nothing to do with Duotone?

The lines are not horrible but for the price of the bar they should have better ones but then again if you are one of those lucky bastards that can kite tons no bar will be forever.

Ig you not boosting more than 5-6 meter jumps than in general are no need for pro sk99 or similar lines. And of course Duotone doing it for masses not for pro or everyday riders.

Not sure why you would think that.
AFAIK the problem is the lines degrade too quickly. You still have this regardless of how high you jump. Probably looping the kite has way more impact then jumping due to friction on the lines while they are crossed.

If you think it is safe to have worn lines as long as you do not jump high I have news for you: There are plenty situations where equipment failure can create sketchy situations really quick.
Think launch/landing (near hard surfaces), big breaking waves, being far out on the water, at busy spots near other kiters etc.

Simply put: your lines should not be sketchy because you will put yourself or others in danger.
Having something that wears quickly at this price is not something I would expect or be a happy with.
If it was a 300 euro bar maybe but not at 600+
