Seeing increasing numbers of Oakley type ski goggles here in Tarifa being used for kiting in the sun. Any one have experience with them?

Also curious to hear the responses, I can imagine water droplets on the lense may be a pain.

If it's just for kiting in the sun I think normal Kitesurf goggles are way better because water cannot be trapped inside them. I've seen some people use ski goggles in Capetown though when they need to stand on the beach for a longer time beach to protect the eyes from the flying sand.
Probably some Tarifa Kiters thought that would look cool and now they are using them on the water for no reason.

Because you think they don't have a good reason you make it to no reason.. you spoke one of the kiters?
It's not about what you think but about what the reason is..

I use Carrera ski goggles for landboarding and they are excellent optically and in comfort. I use them matched to a helmet which is designed to fit the shape of the goggle and retain the wide strap. I think the sponge around the lens of this model would absorb and drip water if immersed and they might be vunerable to being washed off without a helmet.
Currently I have a gedi helmet with movable visor which I use on the water for low winter sun. The visor is very dark, great for protection, but I often find myself lifting it between tacks. Water droplets are probably more noticeable on the visor than on goggles which are nearer the eye and less focussed.
If I had to replace the gedi I would go for a suitable ski goggle with a non absorbent lens surround and a helmet designed to fit and retain the goggle. Mostly because of the achievable improvement in optical performance.
If not wearing a helmet I would just use sunnies!!

Off topic, but after trying many types of water glasses and goggles, I finally got Forward WIP glasses and find them excellent in cold, 3c to hot 28c conditions. Not too expensive.
Note, I tried several kinds of cheap safety glasses too. But never 100 usd + models of any brand.

The Forward Wip flying mask model looks very much like a marinised ski goggle. The second hand ski goggle market might be a better bet if you are on a tight budget!

The problem with ski googles if I remember right is fogging.
