"marlboroughman", where are you getting these diagrams from? Or are you creating them yourself based on data such as https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries ?

From scientists who make them on the go, now. Sometimes they share raw data sometimes they don't.

Diamond princess 1% death rate, but 2% are still critical. So maybe 3to4% mortality is accurate. Spreads most with no symptoms and kids have none. First response should be to lock down children and cancel school...

Why? If we lock down schools how will that help children who do not get it anyway? However, they might be passing it to grandparents who will carry for grandkids more ;)

https://www.sciencenews.org/article/cor ... death-rate
Extrapolating those numbers to China, the team estimates that 1.1 percent of symptomatic cases there turned deadly. Considering asymptomatic cases drops that ratio to about 0.5 percent in China, the team calculates.

These ratios depend on available health care and public health measures, Russell cautions. And there are still uncertainties in the data, he notes. For example, some patients initially counted as asymptomatic may later develop symptoms, or even die. So the true fatality rate may be somewhat higher, “0.6 or 0.7 [percent], but it’s still a good ratio.”

The point is kids do get it and spread it, they just have no symptoms. So even if grandparents don't look after grand kids, if they visit grand kids or parents or go anywhere there has been kids or parents (everywhere) then they are fucked.

Schools are huge germ factories. They should be the first thing being shut down. If a parent has to take time off, tough.

Everything has trade-offs just like kite designs
Doctors and nurses have kids that now aren’t in school, but these parents are needed in hospitals. There are a lot of homeless/nearly homeless inner city kids that get their only decent meal/shelter etc at school. And on on
But I agree schools will spread it fast and closing is best option even in light of trade-offs
