Finally spent some time to read this article and yes, it' very good. If you actually read to the end it's something that gives hope if leaders implement the right policies.

Don't be fooled by some of the comments on this forum, the author is obviously aware of the 0.6% fatality figure ...

and the fatality rate is 0.6% instead of 4%, you end up with 500k deaths in the US.

... but the higher fatality rate occurs when hospitals are full:

So why is the fatality rate close to 4%?
If 5% of your cases require intensive care and you can’t provide it, most of those people die. As simple as that.

Every child understands that if something like 1 out of 20 people need intensive care and the hospitals are full, too many people will die. Not sure why some people still think it's realistic to ride this out and rely on herd immunity.

This article details why the "herd immunity" is a really bad idea, why we should (and could) clamp down, and why it doesn't need to come back.
A little long but very well written.
Basically they use a 4% mortality rate to scare you.

One of the issues I have with the quarantine is that the cause of death is cardiorespiratory arrest and we are shaming people for exercising (e.g. kiting and surfing).

Cardiorespiratory arrest: means your heart fails because your lungs cannot oxygenate blood effectively, AND your heart is working much harder than it normally would because your body is responding to the alarm of infection.

The most predictive factors to whether your heart will fail is how healthy your cardiovascular system is. That means (1) age (2) fitness (3) any other predisposing factors that may make it harder for things to function optimally.

Consider a viral infection like a ~2 week marathon. Some of us are unfit to make the finish. I don't think that keeping people in doors with stock piles of food is necessarily an ideal scenario- social distancing is a necessity, but shaming people for doing solo sports? I agree some aspects of this are selfish, but I don't know if I agree that it is clearly a bad idea.

The injury versus the type of rescue from that injury is the concern. A helicopter is not needed for most injuries that occur from jogging or treadmill use. However, when kitesurfing it takes a helicopter, or a rescue vessel and likely a flight to a hospital. The difference in resources and number of rescue personnel required are blatantly obvious.

So if you do choose to kite, make sure you are not pushing the limits. And please err on the side of caution or even inconvenience. Don't go too far out on the outside, spend your time at home replacing line sets, and check your harness. Helmet usage may be a very good idea, if you don't already do that.

And from the quarantine perspective, you will be exposing a lot of other people needlessly, if you happen to have an injury and go through the rescue to the transport to the hospital system. Read that as "you are potentially exposing yourself to a place that I don't think anyone wants to visit right now."

Russia has been disseminating this disinformation for some time.
