freeride board for boots?

Postby waketo » Sat Mar 14, 2020 6:54 pm

Hi, I'm looking for freeride boards that I can ride with boots.
I have a Cabrinha Ace wood now, I use it with boots but is not made for that. I weight 90kg, don't want to pull an insert or something.
I don't want a freestyle board because I mostly do freeride, I don't want to loose all the things that freeride boards offer.
Thanks

No such thing all the boards for boots have heavy rocker and are made for wakestyle. If the cab Ace is holding up maybe keep using it. As far as I can tell that's what we have to do just test it ourselves since the companies won't do it for us.

Litewave makes a freeride/newschool board called the Kick-S. It's actually really ideal for boots because it's about 1-3cm wider than most freeride boards of the same size thus being closer in dimension to a wake-style board, but with without the aggressive wake-style rocker. It's also a bit torsionally stiffer, so it can handle the extra leverage boots create.
His pro rider Rocky Chatwell uses it for newschool type riding with boots. I heard he really likes the "freeride rocker" of this board better...

I've given this board a spin and I actually liked it a lot. Definitely worth demo'ing if you can. :thumb:

The Axis Vanguard could also be an option. A buddy of mine uses it with boots...

That's pretty poor from manufacturers if true... all tt's (except ultra light weight thin flappy things) should be be capable of handling boots, it's not hard nor exspensive. I guess they want you to buy two...

Pretty much every flavour in the liquid force twin tip line is boot friendly.

They just don't understand how a normal Kiter rides

The Lieuwe Shotgun is rated for boots, it’s an awesome freeride board build in The Netherlands, if you live outside the EU you can ask to leave off the VAT which is about a 20% discount. Shipping was about 80$ to the USA when I bought one and it came in 3(!) days. Highly recommended!

The new cf raptor extreme looks like a possibility

Take a look at the shinn ronson. Nice board. There's a size chart for choosing boots or straps but at your weight you'll want the largest size anyway.

But it doesn't have a grind base if you want to ride obstacles. Mine has held up well but I have to be careful to walk into the water before putting my boots on as it's all stones round this way.
