Bored? Time for garden kite show

Postby Flyingseb » Thu Mar 19, 2020 2:38 pm

Like many, I will have to occupy my days with many different activities that I can do indoor or in my garden.
First one I wanted to do, was to put all my kites in my garden, and inflate them. I hadn’t find time until now :)
I think that could be nice to see other’s quiver, especially old kites that we don’t see anymore at the beach: show us yours!

Here is mine:
Cabrinha CO2 5,5, year 2002 (no use)
North Mono 7, year 2017
North Rhino 4 8, year 2004 (no use)
Naish Draft 9, year 2015
Naish Draft 12, year 2014
Naish Draft 14, year 2015
North Dyno 17, year 2013
North Rhino 22,5, year 2001 (no use but would like to give it a try, was one of my favorite in the old days, saved many sessions)

I couldn’t inflate my North Rhino 4 12 and 16 from 2004, because of defective bladders (mainly valves). Therefore I kept them in bag.

Pictures enclosed: garden barely big enough!

7 struts, AR...i don’t know but big. It struck me, how « sharp » that wing is looking like.
I did not like it very much, because it needed quite strong wind, and I never dared to send it full.
Other than that, a really nice looking kite.
The R4 16 was my all time favorite

i have no garden, otherwise in reply , i would have posted a photo of my old-old-old F-one starter (2 lines first closed cell kite? ... 1999)... I can even not find any photo of this dynosaure (not only for its age but also its dangerousity...)

Ha haa haa!

The ye' ol' boredom bug is setting in already! Cabin fever is in full swing here and my kids are losing it on a wet, cold rainy day.

It's funny you posted this, because I wanted to do the same more for my insurance purposes. I'd like to have some photo evidence of my gear in case of a fire/tornado/theft scenario. Our insurance agent is kind of a clueless tool, so some gear pics might come in handy. I'd be on it if my yard wasn't snirt (snow/dirt) at the moment...

Can't wait for actual spring for kiting, biking and other obvious reasons.

Peter Lynn T-ARC 130
Peter Lynn Venom II ARC 16m
Flysurfer 2cool 6m
Flysurfer Speed4 Standard 10m

All four are perfectly preserved. I try to fly them old kites once a year or so :)

Unfortunately, I couldn’t keep my previous kites, then I could have added:
Cquad 6,3 and 3,2, the ones I learned Flysurf with, single skin,
F-one starter 5 and 7, closed cells ram air
F-one Atk 9, closed cells ram air
Advance Rhea 7, 10 and 14, closed cells ram air
Cabrinha Black tip 12,2 and 16,4 (not sure about surfaces)

Why not creating a site dedicated to old kitesurf kites? That would be in the same spirit of what the free flight DC 82 created for hang gliders, « la bible des ailes ». I don’t like the idea that our memories are fading away...

What you want is a kitesurfing wiki. Like many of the repeating subjects covered say with foil kites and tuning, it could all be best just placed in a wiki.

Yep, sort of. Thanks for your constructive remark, that could be the way to go

Who’s next to show his quiver?
