Leash attachment in the front of the harness solution

Postby duncanidaho50 » Fri Mar 20, 2020 1:44 pm

Hi everyone,

Just started unhooking and quickly realised that its not ideal to attach the leash to the back of the harness as mine was initially intended to be used.

I saw a video that tells you to make a homemade attachment for the leash in front. Looking at my harness I have to options. Leave it where it is (see pictures) or make this homemade attachment on one side of the metal part(where my finger points on the picture)

The downside I see from leaving it where it is, is that I think this is not going to be able to withstand the constant pull of the kite once I let go of the kite unhooked. (this same video said this points are not designed for this).
I actually think they are designed exactly for this, but I am not sure how heavy duty the attachment to the harness is. The fact is that if you used the rope attached to both sides, instead of one, the load would be split in between both anker points but this is not an option, cos then ill be dragged from the back of the harness making it almost imposible to release the kite altogether if I had to

Please enlighten me with your wisdom

Thanks
Igi

A fixed point on the side is the best for sure.

No idea how much load the current fixture can take.

Show us a picture of your spread bar...maybe on its side is another option

Yeah, those attachment points won’t stand the pull. Just find a way to attach directly to the spreader bar. I’ve used pigtails from kite lines to make connection between the spreader and the leash.

I use the same Cabrinha leash connector in the first pic but attached around my left hand harness/spreader bar lower webbing. If that failed I'd have far worse problems in life to worry about. I have a very short Ozone leash which is just long enough to reach the right when the bar is fully over to the right of the Mystic Stealth rope slider.

Thanks for the input everyone, that's the solution I found, full tight on one side, which is my normal adjustment anyway and attached as shown in the pics
