But, the altitude measurement when kiting is really bad. It goes off of air pressure, which changes with the wind. I'll get altitude changes during a session of hundreds of feet, but I don't jump when kiting. If I wear the watch under my wetsuit, no significant altitude changes.
Yes, it is bad enough that will even remove it from the Garmin store :( , before it attracts tons of negative feedback :D

I use the forerunner 935, used it countless times kiteboarding, the only metrics i use are distance traveled, time, max speed, i use it as a tool for tracking the use of the kite, you can set the kite as a piece of equipment, every time you select the kite activity it'll log the time used, distance etc as a running total for that kite.

The watch records the metrics, then when i home it uploads to garmin connect, if you use the garmin virb camera that has accelerometer and gyroscope, which in theory allow you to capture turn/spin g force and climb rate data, as said previously the altimeter is useless, its designed for pilots.

That is going to be a WOO Screen app. By functionality and features it will leave the Android version far behind :D

Sorry. My question wasn’t clear.
I meant which app on your watch are you using to ‘record the metrics’.
As far as I’m aware the Garmin Watches don’t come with a kitesurfing app, so you either have to clone one (from something like the pre-installed Run or Bike) or install a 3rd party app.

Normally for kitesurfing I clone "Other" Garmin activity - with specific activities like Walk or Run you can get unexpected results (like wrong speed display in Walk - it doesn't expect you to walk 20MPH, so they try to correct it).

The screenshot below is from my own WOO app that I just finished. It will have most of the Garmin metrics, plus WOO jump height and a bunch of other WOO metrics. More details to come soon :D

Hey Aleks,
Will your App also work with the new Instinct Solar Surf? Or does it only work with the IQ Store?

BTW.: I highly appreciate your projects!

Thanks!

It doesn't look like Instinct supports 3rd party apps (like Connect IQ store), which is a bummer. I don't know why Garmin would exclude some models.

Anyways, without Connect IQ support there is no way for me to create an app for Instinct :(
