The auto-release of the ring is a cool feature - i.e. it pops out of the jaws when you activate the release even when the line is not under tension. BUT, this only works if the ring diameter is big enough. I experimented with some smaller rings and some of them seem to get completely stuck - the internal elastic actually seems to hold them in!

Evan, I suggest that you give clear guidance about the minimum ring size too. You only ever mention maximum size.

For those sourcing rings, remember that they are usually sold by inner dimension size, so 25x5 is the biggest size (which gives 35 outer diameter)

What is the smallest you tested? As even a 3mm ring with 20mm outer diameter gets ejected in my tests. You have to go really out of your way to find smaller rings that small that you trust you entire weight onto

Maybe the problem is that it is elongated, but I don't see how this wouldn't be a problem for any 20mm OD ring.

You can see on the photo how it is too narrow to be pushed by the elastic and in fact it is really hard to get it out

Really, you have a bent ring and you're wondering why it doesn't work correctly? Come on man.

That looks like a recipe for disaster! The slits in the QR cap clearly tilt that 'ring' straight so the bent part inside stays hooked even when jaws open... so obvious

Take it easy guys. I'm just trying to work out how small a ring you can use. I'm not actually going to use this bent ring. The reason it gets stuck is probably the bend, I should have thought of that. But the reason it does not eject does not seem to have anything to do with the bend, but the diameter. The elastic comes in front of the ring as you can see on the photo.

If that is not the case then no worries.I think this is an awesome device and I am not trying to bash it.

Must be the pointy elongated shape so the bungees only push sideways instead of up. It would still release, just needs some line tension with your "ring"

With a circular ring you don't have this unless you go really tiny.

Don't think you can fit more into it

Also the design is quite open so sand falls and flushes out easily.

Hello, really nice and compact solution, very ingenious the way you did it with minimal number of parts around a swivel.
but can you still release with the bar pushed against the QR, or the ring being pulled sideways ?
Since you have invested into development and testing already, are you considering iso certification ?
Racers probably don't mind, al lot of "normal" wave / foilers looking for a compact QR would buy it without second thoughts then.

Working on certification

When used how I intended to with our bar and rings we supply it still opens with the bar locked fully down and you always should mount the qr in a way that it can Swivel freely in any direction so it is not possible to forcefully pull the ring sideways. Unloaded the ring will get elected no matter of its orientation.
