It's crystal clear in the UK! no kitesurfing. If you are kiting then you tar every kitesurfer in the UK who is following the rules. Very selfish act to be kiting now when the RNLI have asked people not to go into the water.

Here’s one example. I’m not sure it’s really worth bothering to argue since you’re clearly being bloody minded.

I think you're doing that yourself pretty well. When people see you out kiting they may well think "typical kitesurfers ignoring the rules etc". So thanks, from all the UK kitesurfing community that are following the rules.

Yes very high risk going out in onshore wind especially if you stay within a few hundred yards of the beach wear a helmet (even if you don’t usually) your probably better off going cycling & running the risk of being hit by a car or falling onto a hard surface at speed!! Because that won’t involve the emergency services

In wales (part of the U.K.) the rules are clear .
They define what’s reasonable exercise ( running cycling and walking ) and say specifically this
So the idiots who drove from England to setup and go out on one of our popular spots need to take a long hard look .

there is an expectation also that the reasonable excuse to exercise does not include activities that involve a significant degree of risk (for example swimming or other exercise at sea, or in lakes, rivers or other waterways). Exercise, therefore, should be done locally and generally be limited to walking, running and cycling.

These rules ? Reasonable excuse to leave your house is the point good luck with convincing a magistrate if you do get pulled. Yes they are for wales but based on the same assumptions.

As you may know, The Welsh have devolved powers with respect to this situation and have taken a harder legal stance on exercise and travel. It covers less than 5% of the UK population - so you've provided the exception and not a rule.

But I agree with some of what you say, it comes down to what's reasonable exercise, and it's not as several have claimed here that there are the crystal clear rules/laws that say you can't kitesurf (and you're a 'dick' for not doing so). Given a chief superintendent in Cornwall has explicitly acknowledged that surfing is a reasonable and very popular exercise in relation to the law, I fancy my chances convincing the magistrate.
