O-ring comes loose

Postby Kiterpep » Fri May 15, 2020 11:57 am

Hey everyone,

Last sessions I noticed that my kite was slightly deflated when landing. Every time this happened (3x so far) I noticed that the O-ring on the valve was slightly or completely loose or had some sand on it.

I left the kite inflated at home overnight to check that it's really not a leak, stays under pressure. I have been practicing my backrolls, also with a downloop, so there have been some hard crashes.

Any tips on keeping the O-ring in place during a session?

Why not size the o-ring and get a new one?

Rubber seals definitely don't last forever - new is always better.

It's a Gaastra Pure 2019, bought it new last October, so the seal ring is also practically new...

If you over tighten the valve, the ring can "bunch up" causing it to leak slowly. After tightening, turn it looser just a hair to prevent bunching. Also whern inflating don't tighten the valve all the way until the kite is completely inflated, then tighten (that way you don't twist the bladder).
