It will be interesting how accurate this is for jumps. A WOO with a purpose built accelerometer should be a lot more accurate than the built in accelerometer in a phone. My experience is the GPS in a phone (both Apple and Samsung) is very inaccurate versus a specialized GPS. With that said, this should be really cool if it works and I could see a lot of benefits having a phone with you for safety.
New phones will have GOS and GNSS which is cm level accuracy.
How much more accurate will the positioning be with a chip reading Galileo as well?
My Huawei phone is obviously reading only GPS, GLONASS and Beidou

Thanks, this is interesting. But you can't use GPS/GOS/GNSS or any satellite service for calculating jump height. It's just to laggy and also you won't always have a accurate fix, especially when changing position fast (like during a jump). Also the vertical accuracy of GNSS is way worse than it's horizontal accuracy. " The reason that vertical accuracy is worse than horizontal is because the GNSS receiver cannot see below the horizon. With horizontal measurements, the receiver has satellites visible across all quadrants of the horizontal plane which produces strong geometry for horizontal calculations. However, in a vertical sense, the GNSS receiver can only track satellites in two quadrants of its vertical plane which does not provide the same strength of geometric calculations."

It is a bit of a worry but with a waterproof phone in a shock / waterproof case and a lanyard backup presumably pretty safe...???!?

Buy a cheap phone? You have a device that's much more capable for less than a Woo :)

not sure why you'd want to stick an entire phone on your board for this. ? Is seeing your jump or speed that big of a deal? I just look at my iWatch to see my jumps and speeds. Or is it something else? i guess i just dont' get why you'd want to tape a phone to your board instead of a woo or just use a smartwatch app. ? What am i missing?

Yeah, that's the best idea - plenty of old phones that sell for nothing, factory reset and delete everything not needed.

I'm Happy that the developer has cleverly designed a WATER PROOF CASE :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

I don't want to spend $700 on an Apple watch and another $400 on a Woo.

Real time jump height is not required, but could be nice. I'm most interested in GPS data and jump/speed overlay like the old xensr had.

Holy shit - you buying a gold apple watch or something? LOL A new series 3 Apple iWatch is $199. It has GPS so you get speeds, map and jumps with the sessions app which is free. Instead of the $700+$400=$1100 it actually costs you $199 to do what you want. :thumb:
