I don't think bar meant to hold your weight with just steering lines. Much better to get stronger front lines than bar itself any bar would snap in conditions where you lose both front lines

Be interesting to know bar breaking strains - i am almost considering taking a couple to get snapped wtuh load testing... all talk though!

Kites used to only have 2 lines - although there was no hole in the bar which would have made it stronger.

You would have to ask manufactures if they are even testing bar for maximum load. Lines for sure but bar? I wouldn't think so as it not meant to carry very high stress.
I'm sure they would do it with a new design but doubt that they test every bar unlike lines these should be load testes to 1.5x max rating.
