Wow, that's a nasty wound. SPs are excellent but not available in the U.S. unless ordered from Czech Republic

Wow. That is nasty. I would seek out softer bindings. Never had an issue with Cabrinha or Flysurfer bindings. Very comfortable.

this looks good. Do you know if it works with other footpads or requires their footpad ?
The footstraps fit pther pads, I use them on Shinn pads. I used to get similar abrasions from the fopotstrap, the SP straps are really good and you can loosen them enough to get 5mm, Size 12, booties in winter.
I believe the Shinn pads are made by SP, I’m not sure all brands will work. I have the SP pads and I love them. Easy shipping to USA

If there is someone around with a Crazyfly board with Hexa footstraps, stick your foot in and see.
I can't imagine getting my foot so far in them, it would rub as per your photo.

The top part of the strap can be very 'deep' on some straps.

Sorry about your injury. I have never been able to get skin to heal when it goes in salt water on a daily basis, so I have to stay out for awhile until it heals up. I usually coat the wound with New-Skin Liquid Bandage and a regular waterproof bandage over that or waterproof first aid tape which stays on the best.

I know someone that had a cut and infection on the bottom of his foot and wore a special water sock and I think he said it had titanium in it.

Maybe you can modify the binding, cut the top or hold it back with a strap, tighten it down or put an insert in so your foot can’t go so deep. Or try a strapless surfboard for awhile.

Ouch that’s gnarly :o

It’s edges that rub me. When I travel, I usually strip the pads so they pack flat and it usually takes a session to get them sorted so I’m not getting edges riding on my foot.

But that’s cos I use the straps quite loose, and I got size 13 feet. So the straps are open further than they should be, probably...

I’d spend the money on decent pads any day; you can always swap them out when you get a new board.

And if you really want tight straps, see if you can’t get some with more adjustability, and tighten the toes more...

what is your riding style? do you jump a lot? if so, try landing always with the tip of your board facing downwind, it will reduce the amount of pressure and therefore friction your foot straps produce against your feet.
