Hi all,
New to this forum and after some advice.
Got a North Juice 2016 18m for light wind days and it came without a bar. Normally fly a Naish Pivot 4 line quiver and I wondered if the Juice is best to fly with a 4 or 5 line bar? Does it need to be a North Quad or Click bar and line and what length?
Thank you in advance for any input.
Cheers,
Mish
... you can fly the Juice on either a 4 line bar or a 5 line bar easily but you will have to trim things to suit to get best performances.
If you are going to use a Naish 4 line bar you will need to trim your lines a bit to keep things perfect and you will need to use different connections points on the kite. If you don't, the kite can be choked or stall when you pull the bar all the way in.
On the front bridles you have 2 knots which you connect the front lines too. The end knot is for a standard 5 line bar where the Y or where the front lines separate fairly high or also known as a high Y bar. Older North bars fit this bill. The Naish has its front lines separate at a very low point or basically at the bar. This is called a low Y bar or V. If you use a low Y or low V bar, you need to use the second or upper knot on the front bridle on the kite.
Further still, if the kite still feels like its stalling, even a little bit then make the back lines a little longer. If pull the bar all the way in, kite sits in the sky fairly still and neither falls back or climbs forward then its trimmed right.
I personally believe that you should use a bar that the kite was designed with, ie a Naish kite will always fly best with a Naish bar and of course, a North kite will fly best with a North bar. If you wanna swap over from one bar to another, its no worries, but so long as you kinda mirror the original bar in its geometry and dimensions and then trim lines. Kites feel way better that way.
Anyway, good luck and have fun discovering things for yourself.
Cheers,
Robbie
