Foil Bridle Line repair

Postby darippah » Mon Jun 22, 2020 7:17 pm

I noticed this line on my Sonic 2 13m is damaged. I'm wondering how you all would repair this?

Can it be repaired without cutting the line by just splicing a new line on both sides , without the need for Sewing?

Splice a new line will change the length, why don’t replace, or don’t do anything, it seems that is not so bad...

Is it the DC161? See the online lineplan. On your pic i can not see that any strains are broken, just the coating. It also depends on the position of the bridel. Inner A`s get the most pulling force. Only seeing the pic, i would use it like it is, if no strains are broken.

Just use some kiteline same diameter, darning needle feed into itself then out tighten, simple stitch down line. the other side is the tricky but easy, make the loop bigger than the old line just a bit and pull the line threw till right size, tighten recheck, if right stitch. Don't stitch all the way down to where the line comes out, that way you can pull back the line before cutting that way you can feed the cut end in.
This whole process might take 15 mins.

Flysurfer used to have a line service, where you could order replacement lines and they would post them to you.
