The worldwide interest in the GKA Distance Battle – a new and exciting format of a real competition battled out via video heats, has been incredible!

Votes were steadily flying in from around the world until the last days of voting, when our IT team noticed some anomalies. It seems that in the last days of voting the team had a strong suspicion of external manipulation, then confirmed it yesterday evening. Even though the system used was a secure internet voting system, it seems to have been targeted by an outside influence.

We want to emphasize that the source of the manipulation is none of the participating candidates, and that the manipulation was widespread throughout the voting system. The GKA is extremely proud of the athletes participating in the wildcard voting for the Distance Battle, and this is as unfortunate for them, as it is for us.

Like the GKA Kite World Tour, the GKA Distance Battle is committed to 100% fair play, and we have decided to stop the public internet voting with immediate effect. We are currently working on a future solution that will prevent any manipulation, but is also user-friendly at the same time.

We will come back to you with a solution shortly.

The riders and the GKA Distance Battle team are very grateful to all of you for your continuous support and we are confident that your favorite rider can count on your vote again in the very near future.

A quick translation......."it was beginning to look like Duotone sponsored riders were not going to finish in 1st, 2nd and 3rd spots"

Does anyone know of any other sport where an organisations claims exclusive world championship status, is also the sponsor of only a proportion of the entrants, funding only them to attend through their brand sponsorship, and does that seem fair and legitimate?
