Better kite compression bag? Hate the single strap

Postby bkkite » Sun Jun 28, 2020 12:47 pm

I travel with my gear quite a bit, so I mostly use those Dakine compression bags to save space.

https://www.dakine.com/products/kite-compression-bag

The single strap drives me nuts, they slide off my shoulder and make it really impractical to carry a kite or two to the beach. The bags also rip pretty easily, so I’ve already replaced a couple.

Has anyone seen something like this with two straps like a backpack? Or does anyone have suggestions on a bag that can fit a kite or two, and a pump and harness strapped outside?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Just shop for laundry bags on Amazon. Super cheap and they come in many sizes and styles.

I use a compression bag from Decathlon for flights. It s cheap and does its job. No straps to carry on the back though.

Than I have a Prolimit Kite Session Bag as a bag pack for 2 Kites, stuff, pump etc. It s well built and is really big enough.

Have you seen any damage to your kites caused by compression bags? I ask because some users claimed they saw damage, but I would like to try them. Maybe the vacuumed air out bags were different and don’t seem in use anymore.

What have you found to be the best way to roll / fold up your kite for use in the compression bag?

Thanks

I don't really pack them down all that tight. I mostly use them as smaller / lighter bags to travel with. If I pack them down tight for the plane, I make sure I get all the sand and debris off my kite before I really cinch them down.

Thanks, these are more in line with what I'm looking for. Can't seem to find the pro limit in the US...

Do you have any photos you would share of these two bags in use? The pro limit Im pretty interested in

Loosen the strap and put it over your head, then it won't slide down your shoulder. I don't think those things are meant for every day use, they're light materials for traveling, which they excel at. I've noticed holes starting in mine as well. If you don't mind a little sewing, you can buy light backpack straps on Amazon.
That ProLimit bag looks great for an every day bag. I use my oversize 18m FlySurfer backpack if I need to ride the subway. But I still use the compression bags to make my kites small enough to fit in the backpack.
