Nomad Wave

Postby andylc » Sun Jul 05, 2020 10:46 am

Any Nomad Wave riders here care to report on them? I’ve used a directional board on and off over the years and never really enjoyed it enough to want to use it over the twin tip, so thinking of selling my hardly used directional board to go towards a Nomad Wave twin tip which I think might be fun in the usually mushy waves we get here in Devon and occasionally Cornwall. It’s quite a lot of money to take a punt on though....

Highly recommend it. It is the only planing board I have, it is grate for everything, grate upwind and light wind but downwind and waves is the only tt I can use now.
It lasts a long time so also a good investment, Simon really knows his craft and design.

Do you have the basic one or one of the fancier carbon layup ones? Can’t justify the mega expensive ones but thinking the second model up (c wave).

I have the basic one and it is three or four years old now and never had a issue with it. He makes a superb board for riding in the surf.

I've owned one for over a year now and its a great board. If you want a twin-tip for mushy waves, an off-the-shelf Ocean Rodeo Mako is not bad, but if you want a board that takes it a step further, have Simon make you a Nomad. They're built to your specifications, are much lighter than a Mako, edge like mad, flex, carbon spring, and fun to ride.

If you ride down-the-line waves, stick with a directional.

I have a 142x42, but don't let length deter riding a longer board. The tips get fairly narrow but Simon will build a length and width you want.

ps - although expensive, Simon's boards do last a long time, my custom Mutant (based on a 4'10 Naish Pro) is appx 4yrs old and gets used/jumped a lot and is still going strong.

pps - But this is looking after the board - be careful & don't leave them on the beach roasting in the sun

Got my Nomad CC wave this week and took out today. So far so awesome - 1kg lighter than my other board, really fast, lovely flex in the tips for jumping and landing - as things stand Simons prediction that I would end up replacing the twin tip with this for everything not just waves is looking accurate.
