How do you guys attach/ detach line extension?
Is there a quicker way than looping the extension line through the kite line?
Is it safe to loop a figure 8 knot in the loop end of the line since it's folded over already without losing half the strength ? see picture below
My other option is to use pigtails although I don't like the idea of extra drag

Do not knot your kite lines it weakens it too much. Even if it doesn't break right away it's going to be a weak point. Use the pigtails which is kind of a pain like you said or bring them all the way thru like you have been doing.

I like your idea to use pigtails, but generic ones are hard to come by.
I was only able to find universal pigtails once (knot at one end, loop on the other). I was in OBX and they were $15/4. Went back to get more the following year, none in stock.
All other pigtails I find are brand specific.

If you are OK with a knot then you could make a tiny pigtail with just a loop of 2mm line. Without knots the only thing I have seen is the flysurfer easy line connectors

Not very fast though, and easy to lose

Is there an easier way? For sure, Having two bars with different line lengths is way easier.

I don’t have totally sure, but I think it was a old sistem and now they consider it unsafe.
But again, I’m not totally sure if I’m confusing with some other thing or really is.

You are right.
Even The Man himself, Armin, commented this on Soul vid (adjusting mixer vid).
