Duotone evo 10 or 11

Postby Alpa3094 » Sat Jul 18, 2020 5:23 pm

Hi guys,

I am thinking of buying duotone evo but I am not sure for the size. I am 66 kilos with the equipment on and I want to ride from 13-20 knots (mainly 16-18 knots). I own also a Duotone Neo 7m .

I am not sure if I should choose 10m or 11m evo.

Please help me if you can.

The Evo has decent low end, so a 10m should suit you fine from 15kn (assuming TT). If you really want to go lighter than 15kn, you need to start looking at big boards or foiling. It also has decent high end, so you'll likely be able to ride it until 22-23kn where your 7m will come into play.

Thank you a lot. My main concern is that I can own only 2 kites quiver so maybe a 11m cover light wind days but I think you are right :)

Happy to help!

To put it more into perspective, you'll likely extending your low end range by ~1kn, so you'd be looking at 14kn with the 11m to stay upwind. The drawback is that it will cut the top end by 3-4kn and reduce the overlap of the 7m. If you're newish to the sport and still enjoy just being out there, the 4m difference will work fine. Either choice will work well for you :)

The duotone evo will have the same wind range as your north 2018 evo. The shape hasn’t changed. The 2019 is essentially the same and the 2020 is a bit lighter and has no pullies. So it has a bit different feel and turning but will have the same wind range.

So if you are happy with what you have now, get the 11m.

The problem is that many times I was overpowered at 17-18 knots so I think that a 10m will fit me better as my main kite to progress but choosing the 10m evo I will wave a small difference in windrange comparing to 7m Neo (Duotone gives the 8m NEO and 10m EVO at 16-20 knots for my kilos)

I would actually give the low end edge to the evo at least on a surfboard so no I don’t think the 10m evo and 8m neo are equivalent in wind range.

If unsure, I would err on the larger side. Can always ride overpowered but can't ride underpowered.
