Does anyone think that Naish will make another strut less kite. With all the new ones out there I would think the would bring back the Trip or something similar
What is your take on this? I am a bit torn. I feel the one strut works great, and it has a bit wider use area than the strutless...but maybe not. A friend of mine used the strutless for wave riding and he could jump it really high, whereas I felt it lacked the ooomph of the pivot for that...I dunno. The one strut feels like it is slightly closer to a multistrut kite, but still superb for riding foils. Obviously I compare it to the strutless they first came out with.
I love the Boxer for foiling. I do think the Trip was a little lighter keeping it in the air longer in light wind and I miss how small it packed down. looked like i was wearing one of those mini book bags. Great for traveling ! The wind range on the trip wasn't great like the Boxer and if you dropped the Trip it took some skill and patience to get it back up but you just shouldn't drop your kite ! lol The option would be nice
What month in the past did the Dash and Boxer get released ? I can't remember ?

I think that Slingshot has shown with the UFO that a new take on the strutless design could be really good. I rode Airush One back in 2011 when, I believe, no other one strut kites were around. These kites were really good in waves with pivotal turns and much better drift than almost all other kites. Unfortunately Airush dropped that model as they were too soon on the market and it was before the real boom in wave riding.

Timing is important and I believe the Naish Trip was also ahead of it's time before the boom of hydrofoils. A modern take on that design might be better for foiling than the Boxer even though I love my Boxer for foiling and also with a surfboard on a light wind wavy day.

The Cloud and UFO are different from the previous and current strutless offerings from other brands such as Gong. The Cloud/UFO are very low aspect where as the others are more traditional shape without struts. Low aspect hurts the upwind performance as the kite sits very deep in the window but the hydrofoil overcomes this disadvantage. Flying deep in the window and very low aspect allows for great drift and effortless relaunch.
I have used single struts (Ultra), the UFO and Cloud, the later trumps the single struts for freestyle foiling but crap for going places, you will be last to get to an upwind point. I have layed a UFO over a Cloud and they are almost identical in planshape.
Will be interesting if Naish bring out a similar low aspect offering.

Those colours :o yikes. The designer must have been a fan of old vintage ski suits... please May the new pivot not look like this...
