Mast length for Racing

Postby Oldman » Tue Jul 28, 2020 4:41 am

Anyone knows why the new olympic race masts (eg chubanga, moses) seem to be shorter than in the past? eg. 106 vs 111
Is it an engineering/performance issue ?

Chubanga is 106, same as Moses and as was Mikeslab, they are usually better for flatter seas.
Levitaz still has a 110 offer on the new R5, suposedlly better for choppier conditions.
In the end, newer hydrofoils are not afected as much as older models, as they stay stable when breaching, so mast lenght wont affect performance as much as legacy equipment.

I think the theory is that 106 works fine so long as the board is quite narrow
