I cannot support the info that a big kite has a range of only 4 knots.
You have weight, so you can dig in the edge harder than lightweight guys.
So depending on your level you can get a 10 knots range.
15-25 with a 14-18 sqm kite is easy possible.

You also use a tiny board too though don't you?

I get 18 to 28 plus out of a 12m Switchblade too. But water makes the difference in the bottom end...

Correct, so depending on the board you have more low or top end

Let’s make it short:

If you only go to the Beach, if the forecast is above 15/16 knots, you do not need a 17.

If you also go to the beach with a low forecast: get a 17 something.
Again: with my 75kg I like my 17 up to 12/13 knots.
I can go to Aprox. 15/16 knots no problem....

Just my opinion.... ( I drive two hours to the beach, And I hate sitting on the beach because of two small kite)

BTW: 17 was my first kite. On that 17 I learned.

Mine sb 14m useable range where I enjoyed riding was 6kts

No experience with SB or Cabrinha. How is the trimming? 3 knots?

6-7 knots for a 17m sounds reasonable to me - even if I probably used my Zephyr in close to 10 knots difference not being very experienced. A couple of times it was a bit sketchy though - but on fairly wide and safe beaches. Obviously no fun being that overpowered on a 17m so even if it can be done I wouldn't dream of going out with a 17m in 25 knots. I would in 20 knowing I could still get back even if the wind picks up (depending on the conditions - gusty wind on a 17m being slightly overpowered can also be a bit of a challenge).

6 knots : like no wind, family is sitting in the sun, kids are playing in the Water. Not possible to fly 17m

8 knots: family still having fun. Kite is flying when active moving.

10knots going forth and back. Little jumps. Family still good.

12 knots. Family will put on Tshirt. Windy feeling on the beach , but family happy: Massive fun an action while kiting..(for me as an intermediate kiter.) best combination for happy father and family.

14 knots big jumping with hangtime. Family is putting on sweatshirt : not so happy

16 knots : I get my 12) family is preparing to leave beach.

22 knots : I get my 9, family not on the beach.

So also for me 6 knots windrange.
But these 12knot days are sooooo often here in summer.m

Just my opinion....

And yes 18m Soul would be even better.... 🤷‍♂️

Go to the beach and put on a backpack with another 30kg in it and get back to us. Smaller guys just don't get it :(

I wouldn't bother with onshore wind at the beach if it's under 18 knots in the lulls and the tide isn't going the right way. And the flat water spot will be a bit dull for jumping, but fine for trying tricks...

Hmmm... in this case my point was, to explain that even with 75kg a 17m makes sense.

The original question was: which kite for 100 kg in winds from 7-22 knots.

My answer: as big as possible. And for the Strong days a 12m.
