Lighter kite - top end performance

Postby StellaBlu » Fri Jul 31, 2020 7:23 pm

I know a lighter construction will improve light wind performance but does the lighter construction decrease top end performance at all? With kite manufacturers starting to release lighter construction options of a kite (for example Duotone with Evo/Neo in a premium SLS construction) does light construction widen the wind range or does it really just shift the wind range down? Is a lighter constructed kite any less stable at the top end of it's range?

I've flown lighter and heavier kites but never the same design in two constructions, so it's harder for me to distinguish weight vs design.
