Hey!
So my lady has taken a liking to surf kiting and we are looking to get her a board. She wants to start riding small waves. At 5'3 109 lbs, what size board should we be looking at?
Everything stock is just too big I would say. Maybe a grom board? LOL

I would look at new Naish Global Performance 5'2"
Consider the carbon version
It has low volume 21L
And it is not too wide at 17 1/4"
My 108 cents

And Slingshot has a 5’0” Celero that is supposed to very good for a smaller lighter person. Haven’t ridden it yet so no promises but the size is right there.

+1 for Slingshot's 5'0 Celero. Some other good options in a traditional shape would be F-One's Mitu Pro Bamboo 5'2, Naish's Global 5'2, and 2019 Ocean Rodeo's Jester 5'1. There are a few others, but they're wider than she really needs (e.g. Cabrinha's Cutlass 5'2) or they're dedicated strapless boards. For small waves some of the compact type boards may be also advantageous for her (e.g. Slingshot's Sci-Fly 4'8 or Duotone's Whip 5'0).

Easy choice is the Wave Bandit Performer 4-10

It's my go to board @ 165 lbs but I'm sure it would work well at her weight too. Honestly I sold all my epoxy kite surfboards after discovering the magic of this board.

Except everything on that site is SOLD OUT. Gonna make it tough to ride if you can’t get it.

That board is too wide....at 19 1/2 inches......and too thick....at 2 15/16 inches
She needs around 17.0 inches wide.....and 2.0 inches of thickness
Volume around 20L

Yeah Pullstrings is right here. The Naish Global is a perfect starter...it handles power and speed, so anyone coming from a TT will feel at home. I have been riding surfboard for a looong time and I never tire of the global. I just ordered the 5'7'' at my weight I need a shit ton of power, but you can hit the wave soo incredibly hard with that board. The smallest gecko might be okay, but it is a pure strapless board.

FireWire Evo is a great board - the shape easy to ride and do foot switches on. Comes in 4-10 20l
