Other options to consider:

El Medano, Tenerife: not very beginner friendly though and mostly choppy water, very nice town though and good winds

Flag Beach, Fuerteventura: not sure about wind in Sept but it's a pretty windy place all year

Puket, Thailand: since you are going for 4 weeks it's totally worth the extra travel to be in Thailand

Thanks for the insights guys. Sweden is a bit too cold and Thailand would be nice if not for Corona.

Fuerteventura is definitely but I’ve been there very recently.

Current short list is:
- Turkey: Gokova
- Sardinia: Punta Trettu
- Greece: Rhodes, Paros, Naxos

Anyone thought of Aruba? Might be easy to reach because it’s EU (Netherlands)

I think Bonaire is a better option then for Kiting, I heard Aruba only has 1 beach where it is allowed and it seems to be very busy there normally..

5-4 in Sweden? I used to be on 3-2 in Norway :D

I'm no expert on Sardinia having been there once. I loved the place, but seems to me that the wind down south (Trettu) is nothing close to what it is advertised to be. We had wind for 50% of the days or something (in June) and I think I was on my 12 once and used the 17 for the rest. Obviously anecdotal, but this idea that the wind is 5 knots higher than the forecast (or whatever they say on their homepage) certainly wasn't true when I was there.

That said I wouldn't mind going back. I really liked Calasetta. Very nice quiet little village.

The spot is decent. Restaurant is extremely slow, but who cares kind of thing. Nothing really happens in the area of the spot other than kiting. When it is not crowded it is sweet flat water and if the wind dies you can just walk back (the flat part is off shore when the wind blows from the north) because it is so shallow. When crowded it is slightly more tricky as it is fairly straight off shore meaning you often get stuck behind someone close to the "beach". Especially in marginal wind when people don't really want to go too far down for the risk of not getting back. In strong winds you can go far and because the water is so flat it is very easy to get back even if you are not every experienced.

I would like to go back some day, but not purely for kiting. It would have to be a romantic holiday or something in one of those villages. Maybe combine it with cycling. But for that Sicily actually looks better.

Did you settle on a location? Looking for a kite wave spot in the US, Europe or other accessible locale this September.

Been working nonstop since corona hit. Now is my first time off.

Consider Lefkada. Steady thermal wind every day, you can get there also by car.

Consider Ecuador, Santa Marianita, good wind. If you show up at the airport with a recent Covid test your free to go.

The main problem with Paros and Naxos for beginners is the number of other kiters - but in mid September that will be much less of a problem. Like most places there isn't a lot of shallow water, so the losing the board stage when learning water starts can be time consuming. Oh, and Paros in particular is expensive for lessons compared to other places, including in Greece.
But Pounda is a great spot, and I'd recommend Antiparos as a destination to stay in if you do't want to get one of the local rooms - a 10 min walk and 5 min ferry ride away. Mikri Vigla also. Both are quite choppy at times and it can get a bit gusty in higher winds, but there is a lot of wind usually.
There was a semi-lockdown in Paros/Antiparos in August due to a spike in corona cases (bars/restos closed at 12 midnight, compulsory masks, limit of 6 people at a table) but this is now being lifted.
