Anyone have the scoop on the release date of the 2021 slingshot boards? Don't want to pull the trigger now on a new board only for the new models to be released in a month or two.

They usually debut the new models at Surf Expo which should be next month. Not sure how or if it is going to be due to the covid.

Can anyone provide input on the refraction Vs the asylum Vs the vision?

Have been riding an older asylum for last few years with boots and I absolutely love the board. It has incredible pop for wakestyle but also for some good old fashioned boosting (which is what I'm doing more and more with older knees) and the rocker makes for great smooth landings.

How does the newer asylum compare to the vision and refraction? I'm intrigued by the longer lengths of the vision and the refraction. This will be my do it all board.

Yea.

Asylum vs. Vision:
Vision has less channels and a bit less rocker, so it accelerates a bit better and the end speed is higher (not by much).
Pop, grip and sticking sketchy landings is better on asylum. Comfort-wise both are good, since they have quite a lot of rocker.
Vision: a little lighter, softer flex, little bit less rocker, outline more straight. A bit better upwind & abs edge more narrow compared to asylum. Good blend of freeride/freestyle/wakestyle.
Asylum: Better pop/grip & harder flex than vision. It's better for pure wakestyle, but also quite good for overpowered riding due to its bottom shape.

Asylum vs. Refraction:
Refraction is the heaviest board and has the least negative flex. Tips are hard and it is much thicker than asylum.
It's a pretty chunky board. People riding park (or cable) and also kite will love it. But if you only kite, you are better off with the asylum.
Asylum is lighter, more comfortable and has better grip. Consequently refraction is a bit smoother in really choppy conditions, cause it doesn't "bite" as hard.
Refraction is specifically designed for obstacles and riding boots. Asylum on the other hand can easily be ridden with straps (depending on your weight ofc).

The 2020 refraction has the same rocker as the asylum.

Yea true, both 54mm in biggest size. Doesn't change that much tho.

Thanks dewwy for the detailed comparison. Are you aware of any major changes for 2021?

Seriously leaning towards the largest vision but just hesitant that it won't have the same pop I'm used to with my asylum. No chance of testing unfortunately so will have to take a chance on the vison or go safe with the asylum
