Why do you want an impact vest? What are you trying to protect yourself from?
Why wouldn’t he?
Added protection, whatever the kind of crash, ribs are not so exposed
Added flotation, can be useful when you have to pack up your kite gear in the water
Added insulation, to lower the windchill effect
Or maybe it is forbidden by the fashion patrol

Has anyone tried one of these?
They are cheap like Borsch and brightly colored. Unfortunately the reviews are all over the map. Some say they are sized small, some say they are big.
thx

How about using a very bright Rash Vest? You can get custom ones as bright as you'd want.

@Grizwald - doesn't seem like these are suitable for kiteboarding or windsurfing as they have foam insert and even worse - plastic pieces/clamps that must go under the harness. Kite specific vests have no foam material at the waist area, just a slim neoprene, so they fit perfectly under ones harness.

thanks ziatko23. That is pretty much what I thought but I am having a hell of a time finding a large NP or ion in a bright color. If you are either xxxl or petite there are plenty. Just not large.

@Grizwald - I am also struggling to find a bright colored impact vest that I like. IONs colors seem dull to me. Best I have come across is Liquid Force vests(
https://www.kitepaddlesurf.com/products ... mpact-vest), but haven't had the chance to try one yet and these are hard to get good price on in Europe.

Please do not get me wrong.
Impact Vest is for protection from a Impact.
- getting slammed on the water or on the beach
- getting hit by some object (board, Foil, other kiter
Finding a Vest for you that fits to your body is difficult.
- does not slip up
- works with your harness
- gives the protection you want
- gives the movement freedom you want.
Do NOT limit yourself by the colour.
Get a Vest that is right for you AND add a cheap Rashguard.
Just my 50 cents

@1234567Simon - I agree with you, but our rant here is directed to all manufacturers: they should provide products with best safety(bright colors definitely improve safety on water/snow) and functionality, alongside a wide choice of colors, styles and sizes to accommodate every ones needs&taste.

Keep looking for the NP vest. I've worn them for several years. Could not find a yellow one last time, so have a red one. Additional features are reflective strips on the shoulders for helicopter searches, and a large pocket on the front for whistle and PRB and knife if you don't have one on your harness. The strap on the front allows you to hold it down by hooking below your harness hook, and if using a slider I imagine you could rig a way to clip that strap to your harness inside off the slider.
